Sweet Tea and Secrets by Nancy Naigle

It would be a win-win situation for all parties involved. Jill left Adams Grove a year ago, to begin a new life with a great new job. She became very busy, but made it back to Adams Grove for her grandmother's surprise party, and then for her death just a while later. Pearl was the only relative Jill had left, and so her surprise passing hit her pretty hard.

She stops everything she's doing to come back to Adams Grove and take care of things, and to keep a fresh mind of all the memories of Pearl that are there. And Garrett, he just doesn't give up. Garrett loved Pearl too. Obviously, Pearl loved Garrett and wanted him to be a part of the family.

She'd always felt Garrett and Jill belonged together. Even in death, Pearl is everywhere. She has a strong presence throughout the story, playing on the good and bad emotions of her family and friends that loved her. Jill sees so many changes within Adams Grove.

She's torn between her life in Savannah though her boss and boyfriend is a rude man! And it seems someone is intruding in Pearl's house. Weaved into the story is a mystery. Who keeps breaking into the house? What is it they are after?

Then comes the secrets Pearl left behind. The mysterious letters written to Pearl from a man Jill has never heard about, and so on. Adams Grove, Virginia is a quaint little country town filled with a variety of people. It seems that Jill is surprised at those who'd once left, but came back to this town for one reason or another. What is it about a small town that brings people back, no matter where they left to and what they went to do? The ending gives vague hints that there could be more stories set in this little town.

I sure hope so, because I'd love another visit. Naigle writes characters that are engaging and fresh, a plot that is moving, romantic, mysterious, and emotional. Sweet tea and secrets: an Adams Grove novel

Obstacles and danger come Jill's way and her old flame, Garrett Malloy, is there to help her escape them while Bradley Kase tries his best to get in her way. Read the book! It will have you on the edge of your seat, misty eyed and craving some of Grandma Pearl's chocolate pecan pie. To be washed down with iced tea, of course. Alegg4u2 More than 1 year ago Sweet Tea warmly invites you in and before you know it pages have whizzed by in a flash. You know it is a good book when life becomes a distraction while you wonder what is going to happen next in Adams Grove.

Naigle's writing is reminicent of Harper Lee with the small town southern charm mixed witha modern day romance and suspense similiar to Nora Roberts.

It is a spell binding and hard to put down, yet once it is over you miss the characters. It makes you yearn for more and wish that a sequel was immediately handy just so you can get your Adams Grove fix. It is a must read for the beach, for a rainy day - for any moment in your life when you want a good book that will comfort you like a warm blanket. This is an ideal book for a book club.

I can't wait to read more from Naigle. This book is part of the Adams Grove series but can be read as a stand alone. The story is about Jill and Garrett, who were childhood sweet harts who haven't seen each other in a year. They start talking again after the death of Jill's grandmother Pearl, who leaves Jill and Garrett a video and even in her death is trying to play match maker.

This book has it all, grief from loosing Pearl, romance, humor, danger, and suspense. It also has a big slobbery puppy who just makes the story. I was lucky and won a copy of this book from a contest from Fresh Fiction. I can't wait to read more books in this series, I already bought all of the other books that are available. She stays at her grandmother's home to get her estate situated and there are a series of break-ins.

That's when they begin to realize their lives are in danger. Will Jill and Garrett find a way to escape the present danger and rekindle their romance? My review: Sweet Tea and Secrets is a polished and sophisticated, yet laidback novel with a down home country feel. From the start, I felt like I was pulled right in to the quaint town of Adams Grove.

The relationship between Jill and Garrett was fun and sassy. I loved the physical tension and how it was sweet, exactly right up my alley. The re-development of their relationship was something that kept my interest throughout the novel. Naigle's writing style was detailed but not with an overkill of unnecessary information.

The plot line was exciting and very believable and I wanted to know more when the story ended. This story was so compelling and I would love to read more about Jill and Garrett and the characters of Adams Grove.

Paperback Editions

I give Ms. Naigle 5 Stars for Outstanding Fiction. Jill is the small town gal who comes back after Grandma dies and from there its a suspenseful mystery with a romance thrown in in the mix when she runs in to an ex boyfriend. The reading of the will brings surprises and the story is full of twist and turns. Anonymous More than 1 year ago Loved Pearl. What a hoot! The author did weave Southern mannerisms and dialogue throughout nicely enough, except for a few times when it was a bit overdone. All in all, it was an okay read and I might look into the next one in the series. I hope Carolanne gets her own story.

Can't wait until November for Out of Focus to come out.
